School Transport:

The school has no official role in arranging school transport. School transport is arranged between Bus Eireann and pupils’ families/guardians. On Enrolment, Parents/Guardians complete a NCSE Transport Application Form which is forwarded to the NCSE by the School. It is important at this stage to advise if a student requires wheelchair-accessible transport. Dept. of Education & Skills (DES) Transport Section has the responsibility for sanctioning school transport and liaising with Bus Eireann regarding routes. Bus Eireann contacts families during the summer regarding pupil transport arrangements, pick-up/drop-off times etc. All school buses have a Garda Vetted bus-escort who will ensure that all pupils are safely seated and happy throughout the journey to and from school. Parents/Guardians and Bus Escorts share contact phone numbers as it is essential that both communicate to advise if, for instance, a pupil is not attending school on a particular day or if there is a delay in collection/drop-off time. Delays can happen due to traffic congestion, bad weather, breakdowns etc. Everyone appreciates a little cooperation and understanding if this should occur. It is a legal requirement that pupils wear appropriate seatbelts on school transport. Parents/Guardians may be asked to supply a booster seat, if required.
