Active School Flag

At St Michaels House Special National School Ballymun, we are proud to take part in the Active School Initiative, promoting physical activity and well-being for all our pupils. Through a variety of fun and engaging activities, we encourage movement throughout the school day, helping students develop a lifelong love of exercise.
From structured PE lessons and movement breaks to outdoor play and special activity events, we create opportunities for every child to stay active in a way that suits their abilities and interests. We also work closely with staff, families, and the wider community to foster a positive, health-focused school environment.
By participating in the Active School Initiative, we aim to support not only our students’ physical development but also their social, emotional, and cognitive well-being. Together, we are building a healthier, happier school community!

As part of our Active Flag initiative, Glen and Sean from DalyExercise delivered a series of high-energy PE sessions over the past few weeks. Their fun, movement-focused activities helped promote physical fitness, teamwork, and a love for staying active, supporting our school’s commitment to health and well-being.

As part of our Active School Flag celebrations during Active Week, the children took part in wonderful yoga sessions with Ann. Each session was thoughtfully adapted to meet the needs of every child, blending movement, mindfulness, and sensory elements in a calm, supportive space. The pupils absolutely loved the experience—it was a perfect way to stay active while also finding a moment of calm and focus!

Danny & Rebecca got the whole school moving for Active Week with an action songs disco! 💃🕺 The energy was electric as everyone danced, jumped, and grooved their way to fitness! ⚡️

We had an absolute blast on our Active School Riddles Walkway! Both staff and pupils put their thinking caps on, worked together to solve the riddles, and even claimed a fun prize at the end. Well done to everyone for getting out, staying active, and having loads of fun along the way.

Primary Two had a fantastic time solving riddles along our Active School Walkway. 🤩🏆
