The Pieta House Amber Flag Initiative
This year as part of our school initiatives we are excited to announce that we will be taking part in obtaining our school’s first Amber Flag.
The Pieta Amber Flag Initiative recognises the individual efforts of primary and secondary schools, further education and training centres, youth reach and third-level Institutions. It also acknowledges the efforts of organisations and clubs to create healthy, inclusive environments that support mental wellbeing.
In our school, wellbeing means looking after our minds and our bodies so we can feel happy, safe, and ready to learn.
Student wellbeing is supported through different subjects like SPHE, Arts, and PE with a focus on
- Sharing our feelings,
- Making friends and working together,
- Getting creative and having fun,
- Staying active and healthy.
Engaging in activities that promote the above, will support our journey to earn our Amber Flag.
Our first official Friendship Week took place from the 9th–13th February, and it was a wonderful success.
The students on our Amber Flag Team were busy throughout the week, reminding everyone about the different events taking place. Every class took part in a wide range of activities—from making friendship bracelets to learning about giving compliments—along with a collaborative art project supported by our Art teacher, Orla, and of course our very popular pyjama‑day fundraiser in aid of Pieta House which we raised €241 for. Pupils really enjoyed the chance to experience a slower‑paced day. The whole week focused on kindness, working together, and taking time for self‑care. We wrapped up the celebrations by coming together for a Funky Friday Disco, complete with a playlist curated by our Amber Flag Committee students. The hall was decorated with a beautiful banner that every child in the school helped to create—a perfect symbol of the teamwork and togetherness that shaped the week.
A lovely end to a truly great week.
WELLBEING DAY 2026
On Friday, 19th April, our school proudly celebrated Wellbeing Day as part of the Pieta House Amber Flag Initiative. Our fantastic students on the Amber Flag Committee thoughtfully selected a range of wellbeing activities, carefully chosen to suit students in every classroom. Each class was invited to select one activity from each section and incorporate them into their school day, ensuring a meaningful and engaging experience for all.Staff wellbeing was also a key focus on the day, with pizzas ordered for lunch — a treat that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. The day was a wonderful celebration of positive mental health, connection, and community spirit. A selection of photos captured the joy and engagement throughout the school.
